Consultant of Ophtalmology

The Department of Ophthalmology is located  close to the E6, in the town of Moss, a 40- minute commute from Oslo. The  premises  were new in 2014 and equipment is up to date. There is extensive outpatient activity at the department, as well as anterior segment eye surgery operating from our own 3-room ophtalmologial surgery unit at Moss. After regular work hours, emergent eye care takes place at Kalnes, a 25-minutes drive south of Moss. Kalnes is also where the main body of the hostpital is located, as well as most of its departments. There is an eye examitation room there with a slit lamp, an OCT and a laser, as well as varios, portable equipment for inpatient eye examination at other departments. The Department takes part in the education of eye specialist. Currently five specialist registrars/resident of ophthalmology work at the eye department, taking part in a 24/7 on-call rotation,

Due to the ever increasing patient load, work is underway to establish a seperate injection clinic in Moss. The clinic will be located in the immediate vicinity of the eye depertment proper, and will tend to all aspects of medical retinal disorders, from diagnosis to treatment.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Outpatient consultations, examinations, treatment and surgical operations
  • Participation in second-call night duty with a home on-call duty scheme. The on-call duty service includes follow-up and treatment of acute patients at Østfold Hospital Kalnes. We have a full first-call night duty team at our department
  • Supervision of specialist registrar/residens of ophtalmology 
Qualifications
  • Norwegian authorisation as a physician
  • Specialist in eye diseases
  • Applicants must have a god written and oral command of the Norwegian language
