Commercial Manager, Statkraft Tofte Biomass

Statkraft is Europe's largest generator of renewable energy from hydro, wind, and solar power. We are 3600 employees in 16 countries across the globe. Our aim is to become a leading developer of onshore wind and solar projects, taking on a significantly larger number of projects than before.

The business area European Wind and Solar (E) is responsible for development and ownership of wind and solar assets in Europe. The business area is also responsible for the project execution of large projects in Statkraft, the group procurement function and development of new business opportunities. The New Business unit holds new initiatives within electrification and decarbonisation, among them the development of advanced biofuels and related wood chip supply management.

We are now expanding our wood chip trading operations and need a Commercial Manager to strengthen the business area’s biomass team. The team is responsible for operation and management of the wood chip biomass business, covering all aspects of physical operations and sustainability management, as well as strategy planning, team development and customer/supplier relationship development. The selected candidate will report to VP of Portfolio Management for New Business.


Your role:
As a Commercial Manager, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Customer and supplier relationship/contract management
  • Sustainability management, including data tracking and audits to ensure compliance with certification
  • Commercial and operational management
    • Track and improve operational and site logistics costs
    • Stock balance management
    • Operational processes, including SAP, loading and discharge.
  • Project management and strategic development
    • Focus on biomass market intelligence
    • Research and develop new sales/purchase opportunities to enable Statkraft to extend its presence in biomass markets
  • Plan and coordinate procurement processes, and act as the interface with the Group Procurement function
  • Some travelling must be expected, including spending parts of the working time at Tofte

Your profile:

  • University degree within relevant field, and/or extensive experience within physical commodity operations
  • Experience from energy and bulk commodity markets
    • Experience from physical operations and market fundamentals is considered an advantage
  • Commercial mindset
  • Self-driven, dutiful and structured
  • Service minded and excellent collaboration skills
  • Fluency in Norwegian and English, both written and spoken
