Deepsea Aberdeen is currently recruiting an experienced Assistant Driller to join our crew.  The rotation will be a 3 weeks offshore / 3 weeks onshore, mobilising out of Aberdeen, Scotland.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant education/certificate from technical or mechanical school/education
• Required valid IWCF/IADC BOP pressure control certificate (Subsea and Surface) – Driller level 3
• Systematic familiarisation/competence assessment(s) for position
• Fluent written/oral English language

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

Assistant Driller shall assist Driller, Derrickman and Toolpusher with all drilling-related operations, incl. maintenance of drilling equipment. He shall perform his work in a safe, efficient way and to report all incidents, and will be trained in the use of drilling equipment, including lifting gear, rotation table, etc.

Duties include but not limited to;

• Perform checks and maintenance of drilling equipment and follow up work in the mud pump room / mud treatment room
• Supervise and provide guidance for Derrickman, Roughnecks and other in everyday operations
• Assist in connecting/disconnecting BOP and risers
• Prepare all drill string equipment, etc. for subsequent work operations
• Comply with Odfjell's job instructions at all times, while displaying a great degree of flexibility in his job and providing assistance where his superior finds it appropriate

Assistant Driller is responsible for;

• Follow-up of Derrickmen, Roughnecks and drill floor relief crew
• Familiarising himself with various systems and their maintenance
• Log-keeping, including daily recording of the number of tubular on board at all time
